67% of Asset Managers Do Not Allocate Cryptocurrency, 60% Plan to Within a Year
A survey revealed that 67% of asset managers have not allocated cryptocurrency in their clients' portfolios. However, 60% of respondents stated they plan to allocate cryptocurrency within the next 12 months. This result comes from an informal survey conducted by Bitwise among approximately 400 attendees at an event in September. According to the survey, 60% expect cryptocurrency prices to be higher by the end of the year compared to current levels. However, this survey cannot be considered representative of the entire asset management industry, as the sampling method, affiliated companies, assets under management, and regional distribution were not disclosed. In a separate survey, the percentage of respondents who said they would allocate cryptocurrency to client accounts by 2025 rose to 32%, up from 22% in 2024. Among advisory firms, 42% responded that they could purchase cryptocurrency through client accounts. Of the advisory firms that have already implemented cryptocurrency allocation, 99% indicated they plan to maintain or increase their allocations by 2026. The event discussed Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and stablecoins, with attendees' questions focusing on Ripple. However, the frequency of questions does not necessarily indicate actual investment intentions. In benchmark surveys, the area of greatest interest among advisory firms was stablecoins and tokenization, accounting for 30%.
