Adam Iza Sentenced to 15 Years for Kidnapping Bitcoin Thief's Parents
26-year-old Adam Iza from California has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and three years of probation for his involvement in the kidnapping of the parents of a man suspected of stealing hundreds of millions of dollars in bitcoins. Danbury police arrested six men from Florida in August 2024 for stealing a Lamborghini Urus, which contained the parents of the suspect. Prosecutors claim that the kidnappers hoped to recover some funds through the relatives. Iza, who has been in custody since September 24, 2024, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping in June 2026. His brother also pleaded guilty to similar charges. This case is part of a growing trend where cryptocurrency owners become targets for criminals who use threats and extortion to obtain ransom.
