Alibaba is preparing to incorporate commercial licensing terms into its next-generation Qwen model. Future large cloud platforms and API service providers that rely on Qwen for profit may need to share revenue with Alibaba, although the specific thresholds and percentages have yet to be determined. The Dark Side of the Moon has already taken measures, allowing Kimi K3 to remain available for free download and deployment. However, large MaaS service providers with annual revenues exceeding $20 million will need to sign separate commercial agreements, with some revenue-sharing arrangements reaching up to 30%. Ordinary developers and businesses deploying the model independently will not be affected, as this primarily targets platforms that repackage open-source models into APIs for resale.
