Amazon founder Jeff Bezos stated in an interview with Fortune that the chip business will become Amazon's next long-term pillar, following Marketplace, Prime, and AWS. Amazon plans to launch the next-generation chip Trainium4 in 2027. This chip business primarily relies on Annapurna Labs, which was acquired by Amazon in 2015 and is responsible for designing AI chips. Previously, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy mentioned during the Q2 2026 earnings call that the annual revenue scale of both AI chips and self-developed chip businesses has exceeded $25 billion, with related businesses holding over $225 billion in long-term customer commitments.
