Bank of Japan Leans Towards 25 Basis Point Rate Hike
The Bank of Japan is inclined to raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points in September to address the rising risks of inflation, with future adjustments to the pace of rate hikes being flexible based on economic and price conditions. Bank of Japan officials will discuss the possibility of raising the policy rate, believing that inflation risks are skewed to the upside. Rising service prices and a weak yen have strengthened the rationale for taking action. Currently, the overall development of the Japanese economy aligns with the Bank of Japan's expectations, and there have been no significant changes in the economic situation that would necessitate a major policy adjustment; therefore, the likelihood of a 50 basis point hike is low, reducing market expectations for a substantial rate increase.
