The average price of cabbage in Ukraine increased by 37% over the past week, reaching prices between 15 and 22 UAH/kg as of August 16. A week earlier, maximum prices did not exceed 18 UAH/kg. Currently, the price of cabbage is on average 59% higher than during the same period last year. This situation is linked to a reduction in the supply of white cabbage in the market due to delayed maturation of the crop in hot weather conditions. Additional factors include the spread of diseases and pests, an increase in the share of quality products with rising wholesale prices, the end of the sales season for early varieties, and delays in the supply of later varieties. High demand from buyers is also influencing the situation. If the current sales pace continues, farmers plan to further increase prices.
