Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is taking a bold new approach to blockchain collaboration with the upcoming “Glacier Drop” airdrop, part of the Midnight sidechain project developed by Input Output (IO).Midnight "Glacier" airdrop to 37 million wallets on 8 blockchainsSpeaking at the Consensus 2025 conference in Toronto, Hoskinson challenged the competitive nature that has historically defined the crypto industry, advocating instead for a cooperative, cross-chain future.. @IOHK_Charles talks more Midnight at Consensus. #Consensus2025 pic.twitter.com/WszUyNcrQ6— St₳ke with Pride SPO & DRep (@StakeWithPride) May 14, 2025To this end, Midnight will distribute the platform's NIGHT and DUST tokens to approximately 37 million wallets across eight major blockchains. This unprecedented multi-chain distribution is designed to build bridges between blockchain communities. In a sharp departure from typical crypto launches, Midnight’s tokens will be allocated entirely to retail users with no allocations to venture capitalists or early insiders. Recipients of the Glacier Drop will be able to keep, trade, or discard their tokens, with no strings attached. Hoskinson said:"You already have it, congratulations. It’s yours. It’s your property."At the core of Midnight’s philosophy is “cooperative economics.” Rather than forcing users or developers to abandon their preferred blockchains, Midnight will allow developers to build hybrid decentralized applications (dApps) and pay fees in their native tokens—be it ETH, SOL, BTC, or ADA. Validators from different chains will be able to collaboratively secure the network and earn rewards, regardless of which ecosystem they originate from.Hoskinson views this model, alongside rational privacy and cross-chain interoperability, as critical to onboarding the billions of mainstream users expected as major tech companies move into crypto. Midnight is currently in testnet, with a mainnet launch anticipated by late 2025.What Is Midnight?Midnight is a fourth-generation cryptocurrency platform designed as a “meta chain” to augment existing blockchains like Ethereum, Solana, and Cardano. Its key innovation is the introduction of private smart contracts, enabling both private and public states on-chain. This allows for selective disclosure of information, essential for applications like DAOs, security tokens, and corporate operations, where sensitive data must remain confidential while certain aspects remain public. Built and launched by Cardano, Midnight aims to provide decentralized privacy capabilities across the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem.Cardano gains momentum thanks to Brave web browser integrationWhile Midnight blazes a new trail in privacy and cross-chain cooperation, Cardano itself is making major strides in adoption and usability. IO and Brave Software, the developers behind the popular privacy-first Brave web browser, have announced a strategic partnership that integrates Cardano natively into the Brave Wallet. This means Brave’s millions of users can now interact with the Cardano blockchain directly from their browser. The integration supports managing ADA, participating in governance, and swapping tokens, without users having to leave the privacy-focused Brave ecosystem. The move places Cardano alongside other top blockchains already supported by Brave, such as Ethereum and Solana, and sets the stage for deeper future integrations. Notably, this could include support for Midnight and its privacy-preserving smart contracts.ADA price outlook: Analyst and CoinCodex ForecastOn the price front, Cardano’s ADA token is attracting bullish attention. Chart analyst jupiter (@stockjupiterr) shared on X:I mean, realistic takes don't do numbers, but $ADA will, starting with the push up into the vicinity of $2 which can happen in the matter of 6-8 weeksThe monthly is bullish, nuff said pic.twitter.com/fXsUjLNtCs— jupiter (@stockjupiterr) May 15, 2025Meanwhile, CoinCodex’s algorithmic Cardano price prediction projects a more conservative but still significant move, with ADA expected to reach $1.07 in 2025, representing a potential 40% gain from today’s levels.Kraken: Best crypto exchange for security & reliabilityBuy, sell, and trade 400+ cryptocurrencies with industry-leading securitySpot, Futures & Margin trading – leverage up to 5x for advanced tradersEarn rewards with staking on top cryptocurrencies24/7 customer support and high liquidity for fast tradesRegulated in the US with strong compliance and security measures13+ million users worldwideGet Started on Kraken
