In the first half of 2026, the cash turnover of the banking system in Ukraine increased. Cash withdrawals exceeded inflows, totaling 1602.4 billion UAH. Cash inflows into bank cash desks reached 1554.8 billion UAH, which is 8.9% higher compared to the same period in 2025. Cash withdrawals grew by 8.7%. The increase in cash inflows is attributed to a revival of economic activity and stable consumer demand driven by rising pensions and wages. Additionally, the growing demand for cash hryvnia withdrawals is linked to security factors, such as the intensification of air attacks by the Russian Federation. The main categories of cash withdrawals include: transactions with payment cards - 85.5%, purchase of foreign currency - 4.9%, and support for postal operators - 3.4%. The primary sources of inflows are: trade revenue - 31.4%, transactions with payment cards - 28%, sale of foreign currency - 15.3%, and revenue from services - 12.2%. Lending supports the profitability of banks, with the sector's operating profit increasing by 12.3%, however, net profit decreased by 32% due to a 50% profit tax rate.
