Cathie Wood Emphasizes Bitcoin's Role as a Hedge Against Crisis and Risk Asset

Prefer us on GoogleCathie Wood, founder of ARK Invest, stated that Bitcoin has shown strong signals in response to price movements during crisis situations. In an interview on August 30, she evaluated Bitcoin as a global currency system, explaining that ARK had drafted the Bitcoin white paper in 2015 and reviewed its roles as a medium of exchange, a store of value, and a unit of account. At that time, Bitcoin's network value was approximately $6 billion, while the U.S. monetary base was $4.5 trillion. She elaborated on the background of her initial investment decision in Bitcoin, mentioning that during the summer of 2015, when Greece faced the threat of exiting the EU, Bitcoin's price was $250. Wood assessed that Bitcoin serves as a hedge against disasters and can function as a risk-averse asset. Additionally, she noted that the initial mockery actually fostered confidence in the technology. She stated that Bitcoin occupies the position of a global currency system in the cryptocurrency market, while Ethereum and Solana are leading in the decentralized finance space.
