Cedears: A Tech Giant Surged Over 200% This Year, What’s Behind the Rally?
Artificial intelligence has once again redefined the winners on Wall Street, and Micron Technology is one of the standout cases of 2026. The shares of the American manufacturer and its Cedears have accumulated an increase of nearly 200% this year, driven by a combination of record financial results, explosive demand for AI chips, and a global shortage of high-performance memory.
The company, which was historically viewed as a cyclical manufacturer of DRAM and NAND memory, has taken on a strategic role within the infrastructure of artificial intelligence.
Today, its High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips are an indispensable component for training and running the most advanced AI models used by companies like Nvidia, AMD, and other tech giants.
For years, Micron's business depended on the cycles of supply and demand in the memory market. However, the AI revolution has completely changed that dynamic.
AI accelerators require enormous amounts of high-speed memory. As a result, the demand for HBM far exceeds the available production capacity.
The company itself indicated that its HBM production is practically committed through long-term contracts and that the market could reach a value of $100 billion by 2028, growing nearly 40% annually.
Behind the stock market advance are financial results that surprised the market:
- Sales grew 44% year-on-year, driven by strong demand for memory for data centers and artificial intelligence.
- The company achieved record revenues thanks to the data center segment.
- Its market capitalization hovers around $1.1 trillion.
- The stock has accumulated a gain of nearly 200% in 2026.
- HBM memory production remains practically sold out for the entire year through binding contracts.
Cedears investors appreciate that Micron has stopped relying solely on the personal computer and smartphone markets, which have historically been more volatile.
Another driver of the rally is the increase in infrastructure spending by major tech companies.
Alphabet, for example, recently raised its forecast for investments in data centers to a range of $195 billion to $205 billion, a signal interpreted by the market as evidence that the investment cycle in artificial intelligence is still far from being exhausted. This news again boosted the shares of Micron and other companies linked to the memory business.
At the same time, companies like Tesla publicly acknowledged the difficulties in obtaining memory due to strong global demand and highlighted Micron as one of their main strategic suppliers.
Market consensus holds that the main catalyst continues to be artificial intelligence. As long as major cloud providers, chip manufacturers, and model developers maintain high investment plans, the demand for HBM memory will continue to grow.
However, the extraordinary stock performance has also raised expectations. From now on, the market will demand that Micron continue to expand revenues and profits at a similar pace to justify a valuation that already reflects much of the optimism surrounding AI.
