Digital Chamber CEO Calls for Resolution of Ethical Issues to Secure 60 Votes for Clarity Act
Ahead of the vote on the Clarity Act, ethical provisions have emerged as a key variable. Digital Chamber CEO Cody Carbone stated that securing the necessary 60 votes for Senate passage depends on the White House's position and the resolution of ethical issues. In a CoinDesk broadcast interview on September 11, CEO Carbone remarked, "The most important thing is that there is a vote in five days," suggesting that the situation could change significantly once a deadline is set. He emphasized that the bill is not yet finished, adding, "I don't want to be sensationalized as saying it's the death of clarity." CEO Carbone pointed out that ethical issues are a core concern, stating, "It is 100% true that ethics are everything." He warned that without a solution to ethical problems, securing 60 votes would be impossible. Furthermore, he stressed the need for the White House's stance on the ethical proposal put forth by Senators Tillis and Gallego. He noted that there has been little public commentary from the White House in the past 5-6 weeks, and only the President and legal counsel know whether the White House views this positively. CEO Carbone mentioned that aside from ethical issues, other concerns such as stablecoin yields remain, but emphasized that the practical condition for Senate passage is a political agreement on the ethical provisions.
