ENS DAO has voted to approve the "New Era of ENS DAO" proposal, officially establishing the ENS Foundation to advance the ENS ecosystem into a new governance phase. The ENS Foundation will become a fully operational organization, equipped with a full-time executive director, a professional team, and a board of directors consisting of five members, responsible for ENS's work in legal, policy, standard-setting, and brand protection areas. ENS stated that over the past nearly ten years, it has developed into an important infrastructure within the Ethereum ecosystem, with millions of registered domain names, and has been integrated by numerous wallets, applications, and Layer 2 networks. The newly established ENS Foundation aims to fill the gap of the DAO's lack of legal entity status and will be responsible for: representing ENS in internet standard organizations such as ICANN, IETF, and W3C, promoting the recognition and management of the ".ens" top-level domain; participating in policy discussions as a legal entity and communicating with regulatory agencies and government departments; holding and protecting the ENS trademark and intellectual property, combating phishing and impersonation; hiring full-time staff to manage ecosystem operations, funding programs, and fund management; and becoming a formal collaborative entity between traditional institutions such as registrars and standard organizations and the ENS ecosystem.
