South Korea's exports from August 1 to 20 increased by 56.0% compared to the same period last year. Semiconductor exports surged by 198.8%, driving the overall export growth. According to preliminary data from the Korea Customs Service on the 21st, this statistic reflects the customs performance from August 1 to 20. The export trend centered around semiconductors continued into mid-August. Exports from August 1 to 10 increased by 45.3% year-on-year, with semiconductors accounting for 46.8% of total exports. During this period, export value reached $21.3 billion, while imports totaled $19.5 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $1.8 billion. Semiconductor exports amounted to $10 billion, marking a 155.4% increase compared to the same period last year, with the growth rate rising to 198.8% as of the 20th. Semiconductors are a crucial item in South Korea's exports, accounting for nearly half of total exports. This preliminary data shows that the increase in semiconductor-centered exports continued until mid-August. The final monthly export and import figures for August will be compiled based on customs performance at the end of the month.
