The National Secretariat of Justice (Senajus) and the University of Brasília (UnB) have formed a partnership to develop research focused on asset recovery and combating organized crime. The project, which will last five months, will involve a financial transfer of over 1.2 million reais. Researchers from the Department of Electrical Engineering at UnB will conduct studies at the Decision-Making Technologies Laboratory (Latitude). The Department of Asset Recovery and International Legal Cooperation (DRCI) will oversee the work. Secretary Maria Rosa Loula emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and public management to tackle financial offenses, aiming to apply innovative technological solutions. The work plan is divided into four axes: the first analyzes techniques for anonymization and tokenization of confidential data; the second explores artificial intelligence tools for reading contracts and legal processes; the third maps money laundering schemes; and the fourth focuses on automating bureaucratic processes in the recovery of confiscated assets. Each axis will undergo feasibility testing and the creation of proof of concepts. The Strategic Laboratory against Crime (LabCrim) will monitor all phases of testing and validation. The results will be consolidated into reports and computational models, ensuring the continuous use of the solutions by investigation teams.
