Hyperliquid (HYPE) is set to add a distributor-controlled unit adjustment feature called 'scaleWei' to the HIP-1 token standard. This feature will adjust the face value and balance distribution of tokens, as well as unfilled orders, in the same ratio after token issuance. Jeff, the founder of Hyperliquid, announced on Discord that the scaleWei function will be added based on developer feedback. ScaleWei is designed to atomically distribute tokens in the system address according to the ratio of the user's held base token balance. This allows distributors to adjust the face value of tokens while also changing the balances of holders in the same proportion. During the unit adjustment process, existing unfilled orders will be canceled according to the adjustment ratio and then resubmitted according to the changed unit. It is also possible to reduce units by using negative arguments. HIP-1 is a native fungible token standard used in Hyperliquid's Hypercore, which allows for setting a supply cap. Distributors specify the token name and maximum supply when creating HIP-1 tokens, and they also set the minimum unit conversion value 'weiDecimals' and the trading unit involved in the order book 'szDecimals'. Hypercore is the execution environment that handles spot and perpetual futures order books and account states. This change is a technical update addressing operational issues after token issuance, granting adjustment authority to distributors. Tokens integrated with HyperEVM may require separate handling, and related smart contracts may need customized balance processing logic. Hyperliquid's official documentation indicates that the HIP-1 distribution will proceed in several stages, and the actual implementation date of scaleWei has not yet been specified.
