Inner Mongolia Court Upholds 2nd Instance Verdict on 2.95 Billion Yuan Online Gambling Settlement Case

The Intermediate People's Court of Xilin Gol League in Inner Mongolia has upheld the second-instance verdict in the case against Ma and others for illegal business operations. In this series of cases, the Sifang payment platform provided funding settlement for gambling platforms, with a total settlement amount reaching 2.95 billion yuan. From May 2022 to October 2023, Zhu, Zhang, Tang, Du, Ma, and others established a fourth-party payment platform, conducting illegal fund collection and payment through 105 merchants from 10 third-party payment companies, and collaborated with overseas gambling websites. Profits were received in the form of commissions or rebates in virtual currencies such as USDT. Among them, Ma transferred approximately 719,200 USDT into a virtual wallet, ultimately being recognized as earning 2.95 million yuan; Zhang had significant USDT transactions, recognized as earning over 1.7 million yuan. The court sentenced Zhu to 5 years in prison and fined him 800,000 yuan, Zhang to 6 years in prison and fined him 850,000 yuan, and Ma to 4 years and 6 months in prison, fined 3 million yuan, and ordered the recovery of 2.95 million yuan.
