The German national team introduced Jürgen Klopp as their new coach following failures in recent World Cups. Klopp, 59, is a Bundesliga champion with Borussia Dortmund and has won the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool. In his press conference, he stated, "Players will have opportunities they don't even expect. I like to be bold." He also mentioned that immediate success is not always achievable, but he aims for people to leave saying, 'Wow!'. After being eliminated in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup against Paraguay, Klopp indicated that he would take drastic measures: "I want to be heavily involved in the structure of the team." He signed a four-year contract, with goals set for Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup. He clarified that if he is not wanted, he will leave without compensation. Additionally, he announced that he will retire from football at the end of his contract, considering this position as the pinnacle of his career. The president of the DFB, Bernd Neuendorf, emphasized that Klopp was the first choice after Julian Nagelsmann's resignation, and Hans-Joachim Watzke, vice president of the DFB, praised his ability to inspire and unite players.
