Lending has supported the profitability of Ukrainian banks for six consecutive quarters, increasing operating profit before provisions to 12.3%. The sector's net profit fell by 32% to UAH 54 billion due to a higher tax rate of 50%. For 2025, banks reported a net profit of UAH 126.5 billion, while the accrued profit tax amounted to UAH 84.8 billion. Bank profitability is supported by a net interest margin of 7.8%. Net interest income increased by 20.0% compared to last year, and net fee income grew by 6.5%. The cost-to-income ratio (CIR) stood at 41.5%. Provisions increased 2.6 times, reaching pre-war levels. In the second quarter of 2026, Ukrainian banks increased the volume of funds attracted from the population, businesses, and wholesale sources, and expect this trend to continue into the third quarter.
