Polish Prime Minister Understands Reasons Behind President and Opposition's Obstruction of Cryptocurrency Legislation
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that he understands why President Karol Nawrocki and the opposition Law and Justice party are obstructing cryptocurrency legislation. He pointed out that funds flowing from the Zondacrypto exchange and its affiliated companies have turned into a €40,000 watch, media, campaign activities, and foundations for right-wing politicians. Tusk's faction has repeatedly pushed for cryptocurrency market regulation to align with EU rules, but Nawrocki has vetoed these efforts multiple times, citing concerns that excessive regulation could drive the cryptocurrency industry out of Poland. Additionally, Radosław Piesiewicz, the president of the Polish National Olympic Committee, has been arrested by the police as part of an investigation into potential corrupt dealings with Zondacrypto. Prosecutors suspect that Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral gifted Piesiewicz a watch worth approximately €40,000 and other gifts in exchange for his assistance before regulatory authorities.
