A Qatari political delegation arrived in Iran today to consult with Iranian officials, aiming to solidify its role as a mediator. Previously, Qatar had accused Iran regarding incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, which led to large-scale attacks by U.S. forces on multiple Iranian military and civilian targets on Wednesday and Thursday. An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson expressed regret over Qatar's accusations, stating they are "questionable, contrary to the principles of good neighborliness, and unacceptable." Therefore, during this visit, Qatar needs to explain why it attempted to cooperate with the U.S. to bypass Iran-designated shipping lanes despite being aware of the contents of Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum, and why it rushed to accuse Iran without prior communication with Tehran.
