RLUSD Surpasses XRP in Payment Volume
In AI payments based on XRPL, RLUSD has recorded a larger payment volume than XRP. According to a snapshot from the last 7 days, the AI script processed 209 XRP and 602.27 RLUSD, indicating that the RLUSD expenditure was approximately 105% higher than the equivalent XRP amount when applying an XRP price of $1.4027. This figure is based on a 7-day observation, and the formula used has not been disclosed. In AI agent payments, the settlement units are divided, and AI bots repeatedly process small units of digital services. For services budgeted in dollar terms, RLUSD may be more suitable than XRP, which has price fluctuations. Ripple announced on June 9 that its XRPL AI Starter Kit supports x402-based payments in both XRP and RLUSD. The two assets are used in parallel rather than in competition, with XRP serving as the network's base asset and RLUSD as a dollar-denominated settlement medium. The Linux Foundation announced the launch of the x402 Foundation on July 14, introducing x402 as the payment standard for AI agents and applications. Currently, the XRPL AI Hub displays 1,675 live x402 services, 145 merchants, and 2,875,141 transactions. As of August 30, the market capitalization of RLUSD was approximately $2.35 billion.
