Top 10 Korean Brokerages Report Nearly 60 Trillion Won in Net Profit for Q2, Stock Prices Continue to Decline

The top 10 brokerages in South Korea achieved a consolidated net profit of 59.362 trillion won in the second quarter of 2023, marking a 37% increase from the previous quarter and a 141% increase year-on-year. Despite the strong performance, brokerage stocks have shown weakness. The Korea Exchange's securities industry index peaked at a year-high of 9,804.97 points on May 9 before experiencing a significant decline, dropping to a range of 6,400 to 7,400 points in June, and further falling to a range of 4,700 to 6,400 points in July, with fluctuations this month between 5,000 and 5,500 points.
