U.S. President Donald Trump will convene a meeting of executives from major global mining companies on August 7 at the U.S. State Department, aiming to take action to secure critical mineral supplies for the U.S. and its allies. The U.S. urgently needs these minerals to replenish its weapon stockpiles depleted during the conflict with Iran. Companies expected to attend include Rio Tinto, BHP, Freeport-McMoRan, Mountain Pass Materials, Rare Earths Company, Energy Fuels, and Canadian Metals. The Trump administration plans to announce several transactions and memoranda of understanding.
