The UK Unemployment Rate rose to 4.5% in three months to March. The Claimant Count Change for Britain came in at 5.2K in April. GBP/USD holds gains near 1.3200 after mixed UK employment data. The United Kingdom’s (UK) ILO Unemployment Rate edged higher to 4.5% in the three months to March after reporting 4.4% in the quarter to February, data published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Tuesday. The market forecast was for a 4.5% reading in the reported period. Additional details of the report showed that the number of people claiming jobless benefits increased by 5.2K in April, compared with a revised decline of 16.9K in March, bettering the expected 22.3K readout. The Employment Change data came in at 112K in March versus 206K in February. Meanwhile, Average Earnings, excluding Bonus, in the UK rose 5.6% three months year-over-year (3M YoY) in March versus a 5.9% growth booked previously. Markets expected a 5.7% print. Another measure of wage inflation, Average Earnings, including Bonus, advanced 5.5% in the same period after accelerating by a revised 5.7% in the quarter through February.
