The US Senate has deprioritized the Cryptocurrency Transparency Bill due to a busy legislative agenda. By prioritizing sanctions against Russia and federal appointments, the Senate has made the voting schedule for the bill, which the crypto sector has been anticipating, uncertain. Senate Majority Leader John Thune began discussions related to federal appointments while planning to address new sanctions against Russia. Senate procedures require controversial bills to go through various stages before reaching a final vote. This situation has reduced the likelihood of the crypto regulation being brought to a vote before the summer recess starting on August 8. The bill is not ready for a final vote due to a lack of consensus on the ethics provisions between Republicans and Democrats. Discussions revolve around Donald Trump's connections to digital asset projects. Thune aims to bring the bill to the floor before the summer recess but noted that support needs to be assessed. Even if the Transparency Bill passes the Senate, it will need to be reapproved in the House of Representatives due to amendments. Disagreements among Republicans in the House are complicating the progress of the regulation.
