Two Texas teams – the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets – are the betting favorites, according to BetonLine.ag. The Spurs have the No. 2 and No. 14 picks in next month’s NBA Draft along with good, young players (see: Steph Castle) and draft assets. The Rockets own the No. 10 pick and also feature young talent like Amen Thompson. “Milwaukee will ask for the sun, the moon and the stars for him,” one NBA executive said. A third Texas team, the Dallas Mavericks, own the rights to the No. 1 pick and Cooper Flagg. Dallas won’t trade the rights to the pick, per ESPN, but Jay Williams thinks they should consider it. “If I’m Nico Harrison, I’m trading the [1st] pick,” Williams said on ESPN. “... When I look at the value, could you potentially package something like this to get a Giannis? Could you package this in a one-on-one trade to get a Devin Booker? Could you get a Tyrese Maxey? “If your championship window is in 2-3 years, could you utilize that pick and some assets to get somebody who’s ready to contribute to you right now...” Meantime, the New Orleans Pelicans own three future picks of the Bucks and could give them back in a trade for Giannis while Memphis could look to shake things up. Antetokounmpo, 30, is under contract for the next three seasons, with 2027-28 as a player option. The two-time MVP will be eligible to sign a four-year, $293.4 million extension in the 2026 offseason — with the Bucks or with a potential new team, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
