X402 Records 75.41 Million Transactions, AI Payment Verification Underway
According to the official website of X402, the number of transactions in the last 30 days reached 75.41 million, with a transaction volume of $24.24 million (approximately 33.5 billion KRW). An experiment is underway where AI agents perform stablecoin payments during web request processes. The number of buyers is reported to be 94,060, while sellers total 22,000. Stablecoin transfers via AI agents have been reported at 23.1 million transactions. X402 utilizes the HTTP 402 'Payment Required' status code as an internet-based payment standard, where AI agents execute on-chain payments and request payment verification. This method allows for payments to be made on a request basis without account creation and can be used in areas with frequent microtransactions. X402 supports various chains including Base, Solana, Ton, Algorand, Stellar Lumens, Aptos, and Hedera, with USD Coin (USDC) set as the default payment asset on some chains. The Linux Foundation announced the launch of the X402 Foundation on July 14, with participation from 40 organizations including Visa, Mastercard, and Google. However, it remains uncertain whether the increase in transaction volume will lead to commercial adoption, as Chainalysis has analyzed that some growth was driven by meme coin farming activities. The spread of X402 indicates that AI agent payments are being reflected in on-chain records and developer documentation.
