Analyst: Powell has always leaned hawkish, Fed leadership could lead to internal rift and market turbulence
BlockBeats News, January 30th - Sonu Varghese, Global Macro Strategist at Carson Group, stated that if the Federal Reserve Chair nominee is indeed Powell, we may ultimately end up with a Federal Reserve that is somewhat hawkish. Kevin Warsh has always been a hawk, despite talking about rate cuts recently. If he comes into the Federal Reserve advocating for significant rate cuts, he may not have much credibility in convincing others of the need for further cuts. We may even end up with a deeply divided committee that fundamentally refrains from cutting rates. In the short term, a potentially hawkish Federal Reserve could increase market volatility.
