In a restaurant in El Zonte, El Salvador, a statement was made about the 'first Bitcoin payment of this month.' John Aitak, a Bitcoin Core contributor, reported this to Bitcoin.com News at 7:15 AM (Korean time) on the 25th. El Zonte is a symbol of Bitcoin payment experimentation, as it was the area where El Salvador adopted BTC as legal tender in September 2021. Aitak mentioned that Bitcoin payments have decreased compared to before, stating that most customers pay with cards. He also noted that a staff member forgot how to use the Bitcoin app, adding that his experience was merely anecdotal. Bitcoin journalist Juan Galt argued that for BTC payments to establish themselves in a circular economy, users must be willing to spend BTC. Conversely, another user mentioned that there were several indications of Bitcoin payments. There was an interpretation that the possibility of payment and the actual frequency of use should be distinguished. It was also discussed that as BTC is recognized as a store of value, the motivation for everyday payments may decrease.
