In the first seven months of 2026, railway freight traffic between Ukraine and Slovakia decreased by 1.1% compared to the same period last year, totaling 5.61 million tons. Over 80% of the volume consists of iron and manganese ore shipments, which remain the largest cargo at 4.5 million tons. Compared to January-July 2025, 62,000 tons less cargo was transported. The main categories of goods include: grain cargoes — 326.1 thousand tons and mineral construction materials — 146.5 thousand tons. The dynamics of grain transportation were uneven, with a decline in May and an increase to 25.4 wagons per day in June. The Slovak route remains important for Ukrainian exporters; however, the overall volume of shipments lags behind last year's levels, indicating a high dependence on ore exports.
