Quantitative trading firm Susquehanna has indicated that demand in the gold options market is shifting from protective puts to bullish calls. Recently, investors purchased 8,000 call options for the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) expiring in November with a strike price of $460, while the one-month implied volatility for gold remains at a recent low. Susquehanna noted that the liquidity is supporting gold prices, with gold funds experiencing the strongest inflows since January of this year.
