Meta Launches Open Source AI Model Muse Glimmer

Meta Platforms has announced the launch of Muse Glimmer, an open-source AI model that can run on Mac or PC. This model is smaller in scale than leading AI models from competitors and is designed for agent-based tasks, capable of operating on devices equipped with a single graphics card, meeting the demand for AI systems to run directly on user devices. This release comes as Meta seeks to solidify its position in the AI field after forming a super-intelligent team. Zuckerberg stated that American companies need to rethink policies to maintain a lead in the open-source weight model space. He pointed out that foreign laboratories have advantages in training data, while American labs face more restrictions, calling for a reduction in these additional barriers so that American open-source models can maintain a long-term lead.
