Multiple Murder in Mexico Linked to Cryptocurrency Theft
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico is investigating an attack that resulted in the death of musician Jonathan Meléndez Ochoa and others, allegedly to steal cryptocurrencies. Argentine Diego Sebastián Rosen and an accomplice have been arrested. Rosen, 51, and his driver entered the victim's apartment looking for 'a cold box with millions of dollars in Bitcoins.' After the crime, the suspect went to a restaurant in Mexico City but left after finding no service. The attack occurred on the night of September 2, with deaths recorded between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM. The police were notified at 12:40 AM on Wednesday, and forensic experts entered the property at 1:05 AM. Jonathan Meléndez Ochoa, 38, was found gagged and shot in the head. His wife, Ana Paula Barragán, who was four months pregnant, and their three-year-old daughter were also found dead. On the ground floor, Aleyda, a 21-year-old domestic worker, was located with gunshot wounds to her back and the base of her head. A five-year-old boy survived hidden and was handed over to his grandparents. Authorities plan to interview the minor as part of the Protocol for Action in cases involving children.
