UAE Pass Confirms Use of Blockchain, Unclear if Based on Avalanche
The UAE's national digital identity platform, UAE Pass, has confirmed its use of blockchain technology; however, there is no official evidence regarding its operation on the Avalanche (AVAX) platform. The UAE government's technical documentation specifies that the digital trust blockchain network is based on Quorum. UAE Pass is a platform used by citizens, residents, and visitors to access government and private services, with over 11 million registered users, more than 15,000 services offered, and 363 service providers. The UAE government explains that the Digital Vault of UAE Pass is powered by blockchain technology, but does not mention any specific blockchain protocol or company name. TDRA's 2025 documentation describes the Digital Trust Platform as blockchain-based, presenting Digital Vault and UAE VERIFY as key components. UAE VERIFY functions by registering the hash of digital documents on the blockchain to verify the source and authenticity of the documents. However, claims that the UAE Pass Digital Vault operates on Avalanche have not been confirmed. Avalanche established the Avalanche DLT Foundation in Abu Dhabi Global Market in December 2025 to expand its business in the UAE and announced plans to collaborate with UAE-based fintech company Xalts to promote the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA) and the development of enterprise blockchain applications for financial institutions in 2024. However, there are no details regarding a connection with UAE Pass. While the use of blockchain by UAE Pass and Avalanche's business expansion in the UAE are confirmed facts, there is no official announcement directly linking the two matters.
