Ethereum Foundation Launches Glamsterdam Upgrade Testnet Platåberget

The Ethereum Foundation's Protocol DevOps team has launched the early testnet Platåberget for the Glamsterdam upgrade, inviting the community to participate in testing. Platåberget is expected to run for several months, providing a stable testing environment for the community, with the Glamsterdam fork scheduled to take place on August 20 on this testnet. The testnet offers a one-click network configuration and faucet to receive test ETH through the Platåberget resource page. After incorporating relevant feedback into the client software, the team plans to release a non-final devnet within a month to test abnormal consensus scenarios. Subsequent long-term testnets such as Sepolia and Hoodi will also complete the Glamsterdam fork, ultimately leading to an upgrade on the Ethereum mainnet. Major changes in the Glamsterdam upgrade include: Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation, Block-Level Access Lists, Gas fee repricing (targeting a minimum of approximately 200 million Gas), and an increase in the maximum size limits for contracts and initcode (from 24KiB and 48KiB to 64KiB and 128KiB, respectively). The team warns that any tools relying on hardcoded maximum Gas limits (such as wallets, indexers, and Gas estimators) will be affected and will need updates.
