GE Vernova's data center-related orders for the first half of 2026 have surpassed $5 billion. Analysts suggest that the competition for AI data centers is expanding into demand for power grids, gas turbines, and substation equipment. In the second quarter results announced on July 22, it was reported that orders for data centers in the electrification sector exceeded $5 billion cumulatively this year, more than double the total for 2025. The first quarter disclosure indicated that orders for equipment supporting data centers reached $2.4 billion, exceeding the total for the previous year. The CEO stated that data center orders are seen as a core growth pillar for the power and electrification business. According to GE Vernova's 2025 CEO letter, direct orders for data centers in the electrification sector exceeded $2 billion in 2025. This order highlights that the bottleneck in AI infrastructure is not limited to computing equipment, emphasizing that large data centers require stable power supply and cooling facilities. On July 22, 2025, GE Vernova and Cruso announced a supply contract for 29 LM2500XPRESS gas turbine packages. This contract is related to the demand for large AI data centers to secure on-site power generation facilities. However, GE Vernova's adjusted core earnings for the second quarter fell short of market estimates, causing the stock price to drop by 5.8%. Total orders for the second quarter amounted to $24.2 billion, with a total backlog of $176 billion.
